Marketing Manager
Marketing Manager
Location: US or UK
Department: Marketing
Reports To: CEO
Job Type: Full-time
Job summary
We are a geospatial SaaS company seeking a Marketing Manager who can help strengthen how we position, communicate, and bring our solutions to market. This role is ideal for someone who is energized by translating complex technology into clear, compelling messaging that connects with customers, prospects, and industry partners.
The ideal candidate is strategic, hands-on, organized, and comfortable working across Product, Sales, Training, Customer Success, and the wider business. In this role, you will own the marketing function end to end: develop product and company positioning and messaging, create sales and training enablement materials, generate demand, manage campaigns and social activity, operate HubSpot, develop customer stories and use cases, conduct competitive and market research, and help ensure our teams clearly communicate the value and differentiation of our PointMan solution.
As a small company, we need someone who will personally do the work—not simply coordinate it. The successful candidate will take ownership from planning through execution, measurement, optimisation, and follow-up, while also contributing to wider business strategy and growth.
If you are a strong communicator, understand how to turn product capabilities into customer value, are confident working hands-on in HubSpot, and want to make a meaningful impact in a fast-paced technology company, this role could be for you.
Primary Focus
- Build awareness and demand among clearly defined target audiences and markets.
- Generate, capture, qualify, nurture, and report on leads using HubSpot and complementary channels.
- Create clear product and company messaging and practical content that supports the complete customer journey.
- Enable Sales and Training with accurate, current, and useful materials and programmes.
- Improve conversion, customer engagement, retention, and expansion through lifecycle marketing.
- Use market insight, customer feedback, and performance data to inform business and product strategy.
- Operate as a hands-on owner in a lean environment, balancing strategy with daily execution.
Duties and Responsibilities
Marketing Strategy and Growth
- Develop and maintain an integrated marketing and growth plan aligned with company objectives, revenue targets, and business priorities.
- Define target audiences, buyer personas, buying journeys, use cases, and industry-specific messaging.
- Build and manage the marketing calendar, prioritising initiatives that create measurable pipeline and customer value.
- Identify growth opportunities across acquisition, conversion, activation, retention, referrals, and expansion.
- Contribute market, customer, competitor, and campaign insight to overall business strategy and planning.
- Manage marketing priorities and spend responsibly, demonstrating return on investment.
HubSpot, Marketing Operations and Lead Management
- Become the day-to-day marketing owner and power user for HubSpot, ensuring agreed processes are correctly configured, followed, maintained, and improved.
- Build and manage contacts, companies, lists, segmentation, lifecycle stages, lead scoring, forms, landing pages, workflows, email sequences, campaigns, dashboards, and reporting.
- Create and maintain lead capture, qualification, routing, follow-up, and nurture processes in collaboration with Sales.
- Keep CRM data accurate, complete, compliant, and usable; identify gaps and resolve data-quality issues.
- Create clear reporting on leads, MQLs, SQLs, opportunities, pipeline influence, conversion rates, campaign performance, and ROI.
- Work with Sales to agree definitions, service levels, hand-offs, feedback loops, and ongoing improvements within HubSpot.
Demand Generation, Content and Social
- Plan, create, publish, and optimise content across the website, blog, email, LinkedIn, other relevant social channels, webinars, events, and campaigns.
- Write and edit copy personally, adapting technical product information for different audiences and stages of the buying journey.
- Build and manage lead-generation campaigns, including landing pages, lead magnets, webinars, events, paid activity, partner activity, and outbound support.
- Own the social media calendar, publishing, engagement, community development, employee advocacy, and performance analysis.
- Support SEO, website improvements, conversion-rate optimisation, and the ongoing maintenance of product and solution pages.
- Create case studies, customer stories, testimonials, use-case content, thought leadership, presentations, product sheets, and competitive comparisons.
- Coordinate external agencies or suppliers where needed, while retaining responsibility for quality and delivery.
Product and Company Positioning
- Develop and maintain clear product and company positioning, messaging, value propositions, proof points, and differentiation for ProStar’s PointMan geospatial SaaS solutions.
- Translate technical features and capabilities into compelling customer benefits, business outcomes, and return-on-investment messages.
- Gather feedback from customers, prospects, Sales, Training, Customer Success, and Product to improve messaging and market strategy.
- Monitor competitors, market trends, customer needs, and industry developments to identify threats, opportunities, and areas for differentiation.
- Ensure all product messaging and marketing materials are accurate, current, consistent, and aligned with the ProStar brand.
Sales and Training Support
- Partner closely with Sales to understand pipeline needs, common objections, frequently asked questions, competitive challenges, and deal support requirements.
- Create and maintain sales enablement materials, including presentations, proposals, product sheets, discovery questions, objection-handling guides, battlecards, demonstrations, case studies, and talking points.
- Support Sales with campaign follow-up, account-based activity, prospect communications, opportunity content, and customer-facing meetings where appropriate.
- Work with Training to create product education, onboarding content, training presentations, release communications, user guides, FAQs, webinars, and other learning materials.
- Help ensure Sales and Training teams can confidently explain product value, use cases, differentiators, and customer outcomes.
- Collect and share feedback from Sales and Training to improve product adoption, enablement, and customer communications.
Measurement and Continuous Improvement
- Monitor performance across the funnel, including reach, engagement, website conversion, lead volume and quality, pipeline contribution, CAC, conversion rates, trial or demo progression, customer engagement, and retention indicators.
- Use HubSpot, web analytics, social analytics, and other tools to produce practical reports and recommendations for leadership.
- Run structured experiments and A/B tests where appropriate, documenting results and applying lessons learned.
- Review campaign and channel performance regularly and stop, improve, or scale activity based on evidence.
- Maintain clear documentation of processes, campaigns, assets, results, and decisions.
Experience and Skills
- Five (5) years of experience in marketing, demand generation, digital marketing, marketing operations, SaaS marketing, or a related field preferred.
- Demonstrable hands-on experience using HubSpot in a marketing and/or revenue-operations environment. The successful candidate must be able to configure and operate processes in HubSpot, not merely report on them.
- Experience building and managing lead-generation campaigns, marketing automation, CRM processes, nurture programmes, email marketing, social media, and performance reporting.
- Experience creating content personally, including website copy, social posts, emails, campaigns, sales collateral, presentations, case studies, and training materials.
- Experience supporting Sales, customer-facing teams, training, or enablement in a B2B technology or SaaS environment.
- Ability to translate customer needs, product capabilities, and market intelligence into effective positioning and practical campaigns.
- Hands-on experience managing websites and content through CMS platforms, with knowledge of SEO and conversion optimisation.
- Strong analytical skills and commercial judgement, with the ability to interpret dashboards and connect marketing activity to pipeline and revenue.
- Experience monitoring competitive products, market trends, and industry developments to identify opportunities for differentiation and growth.
- Strong project management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver work independently.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with confidence communicating with senior leaders, Sales, Training, Product, customers, and external partners.
- Proactive, self-starting, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a small, fast-paced company where priorities can change.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and relevant creative, web, analytics, and marketing tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of or experience within the utility, utility locating, geospatial technology, infrastructure, construction, or related industries.
- Experience marketing SaaS or technology products to business customers.
- Experience supporting marketing initiatives across multiple geographic markets or international audiences.
- Experience with paid media, account-based marketing, partner marketing, webinars, events, or community building.
